Computation and simulation

Our engineers use the right software and the right method for the right problem

Sometimes we may need an hour for the task, sometimes a month. Sometimes it requires a multiphysics simulation with a nonlinear material model and dynamic loads, but sometimes a simple stress calculation with pen and paper is enough. We do not do more than is required! We use "design checking" softwares as oftan as we can. Normally the design as checked against Eurocode or other codes and regulations when applicable, e.g. PED, MD or something else. Here are some examples of what we do:


 Mechanics

 Our engineers have extensive experience along with a solid theoretical knowledge of, among other things, the following types of works:

  •  Design checking of machines - speed, power, torque, mass, inertia, gear ratio, gears, shafts, gears etc.
  •  Design checking of bulk handling equipment and bulk flows - discharge parabolas, Pressure gradients, Silo emptying, Chutes, Conveyors, Belt feeders, Screw feeders, etc.
  •  Design checking of welds and welded structures
  •  Abrasion computations

 Crane and Lifting

  • Design checking of cranes, crane girders, lifting eyes and lifting equipment in general.

 Structural mechanics

  • Control and design of timber and steel frames: Global and local analysis (Eurocode) of columns, beams, connections, slabs and frames. Characteristic loads, snow loads, wind loads, dynamic loads from vehicles, cranes etc.
  • Design checking of foundations, foundation bolts and screw anchors.
  • Effective control of standardized joints and connections (According to Eurocode)
  •  Inspection and dimensioning of non-standard joints and couplings

 Hydromechanics

  •  Pressurized structures - Pressure vessels and pressure pipes (PED)
  •  Hydrostatic and hydromechanical analyses - Pipe flow, Pumps, Vessels

 Dynamics and multiphysics

  •  Dynamic load effects - shocks, energy absorption, vibrations, natural oscillation, forced oscillation
  •  Multiphysics and thermal analyses
  •  Fatigue and life analyses

 Simulation

Our engineers often perform the assignments using numerical analyses (FEM) in combination with hand calculations as well as "code checking softwares" and external algorithms for e.g. force calculation and fatigue calculation.
